Our Company Story

Our History

Founded by Directors Brian Greenall and Rien Wagenvoort in 1982, Equus began as a manufacturer of specialist coating systems. From the outset, the focus was on delivering practical, high‑performance solutions tailored to New Zealand conditions.

From 1990, Equus expanded its offering through the importation of specialist products, enabling access to proven international technologies alongside locally manufactured products. This approach was strengthened in 2001 through a partnership with European manufacturer De Boer, reflecting Equus’ commitment to aligning with leading global expertise.

That relationship evolved in 2019 into a strategic partnership with Soprema—one of the world’s most respected waterproofing and insulation manufacturers. These long‑standing global partnerships have played a key role in expanding our technical capability and enabling Equus to deliver best‑in‑class systems across a wide range of applications.

As the industry has evolved, so too has Equus. Today, our imported systems form a significant part of our offering, supported by local manufacturing, technical expertise, and nationwide service. Brian and Rien were joined by Directors Rob Roxburgh and Nikki Brown in 2006, ensuring continuity of leadership and long‑term strength.

Now operating with branches in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, and manufacturing in Blenheim, Equus remains proudly New Zealand owned, supplying and supporting projects across the country.
